Since the mid-1970s, artist Heiner Meyer has been exploring the work of Pablo Picasso, arguably the most important artist of the 20th century. His extensive oeuvre has influenced not only artists of his own generation, but also pop art artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Hamilton, and others to this day. Heiner Meyer's works refer to numerous variations of Picasso's work, which can be both the main element and the object and an integral part of a painting. Irony is as much a part of the work as the respectful engagement with the master of modernism. In the group of more recent works, the viewer himself becomes a supporting actor, as the painting already depicts the viewing of a Picasso painting. The exhibition in Palma comprises 25 paintings and bronze sculptures, as well as a Louis Vuitton trunk from the “Trunkmania” project.
