With BETWEEN GLAMOUR AND TRUST, the Hermann Stenner Forum

presents an exhibition dedicated to Heiner Meyer’s work from the past

twenty years. At its heart is an artist who draws on the visual language

of Pop Art and translates it into the present as Pop Art 2.0. With

over 400 exhibitions worldwide, Heiner Meyer is one of the defining

figures in contemporary Pop Art and is also represented in major

international collections.

Meyer’s works combine elements of the world of consumerism and luxury with references

from art history. Design classics, film icons, and brand aesthetics

encounter art-historical references and merge into complex

visual spaces. This is not merely a matter of repeating familiar

motifs, but of transforming them: Meyer weaves visual references into

new narratives that draw the viewer into a multi-layered interplay of

recognition and interpretation.

The exhibition title refers to the tension within which his

art operates. “Glamour” stands for the visual seductiveness of the images,

for luxury, surface, and iconic charisma. “Trust,” on the other hand, describes

the level of meaning, cultural references, and the question of what we

believe in images. Between these poles unfolds a body of painting that

is as sensual as it is reflective, revealing the mechanisms of consumption and

image production with subtle irony.

A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to Pop Art as a central

source of inspiration. Works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Alex Katz

enter into a direct dialogue with Heiner Meyer’s works, illustrating

how artistic influences are translated into a distinct visual language.

Thus, the exhibition becomes a journey through Meyer’s visual world—and at the same time

a reflection on the evolution of Pop Art up to the present day.
